2.5 Installing Opkey Smart Recorder
OpKey Smart Recorder is a utility that facilitates Test automation of applications by recording the actions, performed by the user. It is mandatory to install OpKey Smart Recorder before recording the Test Case(s) or function library.

Step by Step process to Install OpKey Smart Recorder
- Open OpKey Web. Navigate to the Download Center button.
- You can have a look at the tooltip as Download Center.
- Click on the Download Center and click on Smart Recorder under Plugins and Recorder section as shown below:
- Once, the setup file of OpKey Smart Recorder is downloaded successfully, you can view its setup file as follows:
- Initiate the installation. Installation of OpKey Smart Recorder begins as follows:
- Select the radio button stating that you accepts the terms of licence of this agreement and click Next to continue installation.
- The following window will get opened defining the path for the target directory.
- Click OK and then click Next.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Done to finish the installation.
- Congratulations! You have successfully installed the OpKey smart recorder on your system.Similarly, you can install OpKey Smart Recorder, by clicking on the record icon, in case of Test Case and Function Library.
- Once, OpKey Smart Recorder gets installed on your machine, you can see a shortcut file icon for Start OpKey Smart Recorder on your desktop.
- Once the OpKey Smart Recorder appears on the desktop, double click on it to launch the recorder. It will get opened on the command prompt. Minimize it, and click on Record button to begin your recording session.
- If you have not launched OpKey Smart Recorder before starting recording session, then you need to keep the downloaded Jnlp file, launch it to start OpKey Smart Recorder.
- Launching OpKey Smart Recorder from its icon showing on the desktop is an alternative way of starting OpKey Smart Recorder by keeping and invoking JNLP file which is getting downloaded every time on clicking desired recorder showing under the record button.
2.3.1 Installing OpKey Certificate on Mozilla Firefox:
While working with OpKey Web on Mozilla Firefox web browser, and using OpKey Smart Recorder for the first time, you will need to install the OpKey certificate on Mozilla Firefox manually as described below:
Go to the Tools menu of Mozilla Firefox > Click on Options > Click on Advanced > Click on Certificates > Click on View Certificate > Click on Authorities tab > Click on Import
Now, you have to import OpKey certificate located on your local drive: C:\Users\User_Name\OpKeySmartRecorder\certgen\X509CA\ca
Browse to the above given path of your local drive and select OpKey and click on open. Once, it gets installed on your system successfully, you can view it in the below given image:
If the OpKey certificate is not installed on the Mozilla Firefox browser, then you will not be able to continue with the recording process, as the smart recorder will keep searching for the certificate and will not proceed further.

3.1.2 Applying Settings on Mac Machine for recording on Safari web browser:
While working with OpKey Web over any web browser (Safari, Chrome or Firefox) on Mac machine; you need to apply few settings before starting the recording process. These manual settings are required for using OpKey Smart Recorder as described below:
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon and then click Open Network Preferences…
- You come to the Network page here. Now, click Advanced…
- Check Web Proxy (HTTP) & Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS) checkboxes. Enter Secure Web Proxy Server as 127.0.0.1 and Port number as 9999 for both HTTP & HTTPS. Click OK.
Now, click on Apply to save and apply made settings.
Now, you can perform your recording process successfully. Once recording gets completed, remove the above described settings.
